At Cardiff, Flames recovered from a 2 goal deficit late in the 3rd to send a 5-5 game into overtime, then eventually penalties where Steven McParland had the only goal and Adam Long earned his first win in Flames gear by stopping all 5 Devils tiebreaker attempts to complete a 6-5 Flames win.
The clubs went to the break tied on a goal each thinks to traded strikes by Ryan Barrow on a powerplay in the 13th minute ahead of Matt Alvaro at 16:14.
At 26:03 Devils scored seconds into another powerplay with Barrow’s 2nd of the evening, but the Flames extra man unit replied shortly after with Alvaro’s 2nd of the contest. Flames went in front for the first time near the halfway mark during a run of 4 on 4 when Jordan Klimek nudged them ahead. At 31:12, Brandon Alderson squared it for Devils, and on the play an earlier injury to Eamon McAdam proved too much to continue and Adam Long took the reigns from there. At 39:57, Devils did establish a lead to begin the final frame thanks to the late Joey Martin marker.
Devils extended in the 48th minute through Jamie Arniel, but answers from Sam Talbot at 52:59 and Brett Ferguson inside the last 4 minutes tied it before McParland and Long heroics stole the win.
