Flames add Forward Josh Nixon
Flames have added Canadian forward Josh Nixon to the roster for the 25-26 term. After 4 NCAA seasons, the 25 year old closed last season making his pro debut with 4 games at ECHL Maine Mariners immediately following a 23 point term in 36 Union College starts. He began his collegiate career at Lake Superior State before the Union transfer for his final 3 campaigns. In 143 starts combining athletics and academics, the native of Mississauga, Ontario had 42 goals and 86 points and was selected to the NCAA (CCHA) All-Rookie team during the 2021-2022 season. His junior career began in 2017-2018 with OJHL Georgetown Raiders. He remained there for the season that followed, one that included the league title, then moved on to Oakville Blades the season after that. In 101 games, the 5’9”, 175lb skater had 27 goals and 40 assists. He took his skills to the USHL in 2019-2020, scoring 8 goals and 25 points at Sioux City Musketeers before his final development term at NAHL Maryland Black Bears where 23 points in 42 games preceded the step up to the college ranks. “Josh is a good skating, skilled forward who we know will fit in well with the style of game that we like to play,” said Paul Dixon. “He is not a huge guy, but he plays hard and works all the time. He got a taste of pro hockey with a few ECHL games to end his final college season and we know he is excited to get started with us for his first full season of nothing but hockey.” “We are pleased to get his signature on a contract, and we look forward to welcoming him when the season gets underway.” |
