Roster Finalised With Greenfield and Hadfield
The Guildford Flames ice hockey club’s opening day roster has been completed with the addition of forward Scott Greenfield and netminder James Hadfield.

G
reenfield, 19, a local product, iced his first full campaign with the club last season when he registered 2 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 57 starts.  The 6’0”, 190lb graduate of the Guildford Jr. programme suited up in a handful of games the year prior, bringing his career senior total to 63 games.

H
adfield, who will turn 19 early in the new schedule, helped backstop the Swindon Wildcats to a 7th place playoff position last season, an improvement of a single table spot over the year prior.  The 6’1”, 190lb netminder played 36 times, finishing with a 4.14 goals against average and an 89 save percentage. He was the goaltender of record in both playoff quarter final games against Spectrum’s team this past spring.  The Sheffield native opened his senior account with the English Premier League Scimitars in 2009-2010 and iced a pair of games at the Under 18 world junior championships that same season.

Flames head coach Paul Dixon discussed the two youngest members of the team:

‘’Scott took up game duty with us fairly early last season and stuck right through to the playoff capture.  He is a guy who you might term ‘coachable’.  He listens to everything the staff have to say and he does exactly what is asked of him.  His ice time last year was variable.  Sometimes extremely limited, and other times with changes or injuries he got a better look and he was rarely cause for concern.  He kept things simple when he was out there, and really earned the right to be back here again.  We always want to find our own junior players who can take the step up that ladder and it is great news for us as an organisation to have Scott crack the roster.  James saw a fair bit of activity last season considering his relative youth. I am sure it was a good experience for him on a team where offence was the real strength.  We remember a game against them back in December when we slipped out of Swindon with a 3-2 win and James had an excellent night on a nearly 40 shot count.  We expect that Mark Lee will get the bulk of the work this season, but James showed last year that he was ready to compete hard against more established veterans, and we are looking forward to a level of healthy competition that will bring out the best in both our guys at that position.”
