Introduction
Welcome to the Drug Freeze Programme. The Guildford Flames, in conjunction with Surrey Police, have been successfully running this drug awareness programme throughout Surrey’s primary schools for 18 years.
Over the years, the programme has had tremendous success highlighting the social, physical and legal implications of drug use (primarily alcohol and cannabis) to year 6 pupils, preparing them for the move into secondary school.
The message objective is that ice hockey players use their equipment to help prevent getting injured during games. The drug section of the presentation is therefore trying to give the pupils information which they can then use to protect themselves against harm caused by drug use. The programme endeavours to give pupils the information they need to make the appropriate choice when faced with difficult situations within the school/social setting.
The Visit
The visit includes a 30 min (approx) presentation by a Guildford Flames Ice hockey player, outlining the equipment used and showing a short video of game clips, followed by another 30 min (approx) presentation giving details on the legal and physical aspects of drug use. These times can be adjusted slightly to fit in with school sessions.

Surrey Police
